• Good morning, Springfield High! Today is Wednesday, May 13th

  • Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays the  Peace Room is  open and available to students for support in the Guidance Office-8:30-9am and 11:30-2pm.  

  • Tutoring is available for all students.  Normal tutoring on Tuesdays and Thursdays continues from 3:30-4:30 in room 160. There will be no Wednesday tutoring the rest of the year

  • Exam exemption forms are available in the guidance and main offices. If you are eligible to exempt any exams, please make sure you pick up the grade level form, then get all signatures and then turn in the form in the guidance office by Thursday, May 21st at 3:30 p.m.

  • To any student who is involved in the Assassins game, this is a reminder that you may not have any activity on school grounds or during school times or anything related to the game during the school day. Please know we are concerned for your safety and need you to make good decisions. Please see Leardi or Adeniji with questions. 

  • Any SHS student looking for a summer job opportunity through the Youth Employment Program and Abundant Faith, see Leardi, Almdale or Dorr. Jobs are available June 8 - August 8 and students can earn $16 an hour on different job sites. Paid training is included, and bus tickets are available for those needing transportation.   • Guten Tag! The German Club will be having their last meeting of the year this Tuesday, May 12, right after school. We will be going on a hike at Lincoln Memorial Gardens while enjoying pretzels as is authentic to German culture. We hope to see you there! See Annah Sharp with any questions.

  • Volleyball workouts  on Thursday only this week  3:30-5:00

  • Pizza Pizza Pizza Thursday Thursday Thursday. Be A Senator Club is selling Papa John’s pizza for $2 a slice in the commons on both lunch shifts this Thursday. You can also use 5 Senator Dollars to purchase a slice. 

  • Attention all athletes interested in running cross country in the fall.  There will be short informational meeting on Monday May 18th at 3:17 in the competition gym.  Come sign up and get important information for the upcoming season.  If you have any questions see Coach Cotner. 

  • Future Football Players! There will be a player/parent meeting on Thursday May 21st @ 6pm in the new commons for anyone interested in playing football next season. 

  • The baseball team came back from an 8 to 2 deficit in the 5th inning to take the lead 10 to 9 in the top of the 7th, but from there things didn’t go well the rest of the way as Glenwood finally pulled away to win 15 to 10 in 9 innings. The SHS offense had one of its better days in recording 15 hits including 5 for extra bases. The brothers Scheffler got things started in the 2nd as Jacob and Brody hit back to back home runs to give the Solons a 2 to nothing lead. Connor Borah, Wade Snyder, Karter Marks, and Brody each had 3 hits apiece with Brody driving in 4 with 2 doubles to go with his homer. Spencer Wieneke gave a strong four inning relief performance on the mound allowing only 2 earned runs, but in the end the ball didn’t bounce the Senators’ way. Next up is a non-conference 4:30 game today at Rochester.

  • The Fresh/Soph Boys Track and Field team won the Lanphier Fresh/Soph Open last night at Memorial Stadium.  Event Champions for SHS were: Jamel Battie in the 100, Brandon Moody in the 800, Jeremiah Prather in the 1600, Deanthony Brown in the 300 hurdles, Trey Sutton in the discus, and the 4x400 relay team of Kolade Abitogun, Jeremiah Prather, Nicholas Taylor, and James Houlihan.  The boys compete Thursday at Lanphier in the central state eight conference meet. 

  • The softball team picked up a conference win over Decatur MacArthur last night with a score of 16 to 1. Milan Robinson picked up a hit and RBI to help push the lead in the second inning. Alivia Rothermich also had a hit and 2 runs scored. Good job, ladies.

  • The soccer team defeated Normal West to finish the regular season 14-3-1. The Senators got 2 goals from Kamryn Hoffman and a goal from Addie Maddox. Kamryn Hoffman, Addie Maddox and Kalyn Burton picked up assists. The CS8 Champion Senators are the number 1 seed in the Mattoon Regional next week.

The JV team defeated Normal West 3-1. MeganFoster scored 2 goals and Kate Havenar scored a goal. Ann Nwanganga picked up an assist. Great season girls.

  • The Springfield High School Boys Junior Varsity Tennis Team competed against Sacred Heart-Griffin High School yesterday.  Ben Perry and Basil Miller won at singles while in doubles, the teams of Cade Allen/Elijah Boyce, Sebastian Moore/Alex Williams and Kieran Green/Avett Shank emerged with victories.
