Senators show responsibility for their grades and future success. You and only you are responsible for your schoolwork and grades. Increase your chances of success by using a planner and designating a specific time every day for homework and studying. We are quickly approaching progress report time, so set a goal of a specific task you need to complete in order to finish strong in 1st quarter. Have a great week from Be A Senator.
The Homecoming Dance is Saturday, October 3rd at SHS from 7:00 – 9:30 p.m. Doors open at 6:45 p.m. Students will not be admitted after 8:00 p.m. Students will enter through security at the main doors off Lewis Street. Tickets are $15 per person. All students will pass through metal detectors and a bag search for entry. If a SHS student is bringing an outside guest, the proper guest form must be filled out in its entirety and returned to the Guidance Office by Thursday, October 1st at 3:30 p.m. Late forms are not accepted. Guest forms are available in the Guidance Office. All guests must have valid picture identification. No exceptions will be made on the form or guest IDs in the name of safety and security. Guests must arrive/leave and stay with their SHS student at all times.

Please come to an informational meeting for the new chapter of Springfield High School’s Future Business Leaders of America Business Club on Wednesday, September 16th, after school at 2:30 in Mrs. Cooper’s Room 1307.
Again, FBLA/Business Club is ONLY open to students currently enrolled or who have already taken ANY Business Class.

*PSAT/NMSQT sign-up is now available in the Guidance Office. The PSAT/NMSQT is the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test for Juniors; however, freshmen and Sophomores can also take the exam. The due date to sign up is October 1st. The cost is $18 and can be paid with cash or check. The test date is Tuesday, October 20th. Any questions? Email Mr. Robinson rrobinson@sps186.org
*Springfield Clinic is hosting their High School Open House event at 800 North 1st Street in Springfield today from 5:30-7 PM to offer students the opportunity to learn about different career paths through hands-on demos and department tours. *The Chess Club is officially kicking off, and our very first meeting is this Thursday! Whether you want to climb the competitive ladder, learn the basic rules, or just hang out and play casual games with friends, there is a spot at the board for you. No experience is required—we will teach you everything you need to know.

Congratulations to the Senators volleyball team who beat Decatur Eisenhower 25-13 25-10 in straight set wins. The team was lead by Anne Becker with 7 kills , Ainsley Lambert 11 digs, Averie Kirk 9 assists & Miriel Patton 4 aces. Next home game is Thursday night against Calvary
