Senators show responsibility for their grades and future success. You and only you are responsible for your schoolwork and grades. Increase your chances of success by using a planner and designating a specific time every day for homework and studying. We are quickly approaching progress report time, so set a goal of a specific task you need to complete in order to finish strong in 1st quarter. Have a great week from Be A Senator.
The Homecoming Dance is Saturday, October 3rd at SHS from 7:00 – 9:30 p.m. Doors open at 6:45 p.m. Students will not be admitted after 8:00 p.m. Students will enter through security at the main doors off Lewis Street. Tickets are $15 per person. All students will pass through metal detectors and a bag search for entry. If a SHS student is bringing an outside guest, the proper guest form must be filled out in its entirety and returned to the Guidance Office by Thursday, October 1st at 3:30 p.m. Late forms are not accepted. Guest forms are available in the Guidance Office. All guests must have valid picture identification. No exceptions will be made on the form or guest IDs in the name of safety and security. Guests must arrive/leave and stay with their SHS student at all times.
*PSAT/NMSQT sign-up is now available in the Guidance Office. The PSAT/NMSQT is the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test for Juniors; however, freshmen and Sophomores can also take the exam. The due date to sign up is October 1st. The cost is $18 and can be paid with cash or check. The test date is Tuesday, October 20th. Any questions? Email Mr. Robinson rrobinson@sps186.org
What do Mr. Myers's knees do as he walks up the stairs? Pop! What does Illinois export more than any other state? Corn! What did the baby corn say to the mother corn? Where is pop-corn? Popcorn will be down in the Commons Friday for $1 a bag. Cash only, but $1 gets you some of the best popcorn outside AMC theaters you can find!

*The Chess Club is officially kicking off, and our very first meeting is Today!! Whether you want to climb the competitive ladder, learn the basic rules, or just hang out and play casual games with friends, there is a spot at the board for you. No experience is required—we will teach you everything you need to know.

If you love reading and talking about books and want to get involved in some extra SHS fun, then Book Club is the perfect club for you! We are having our first meeting of the year on Thursday, Sept. 24 from 3:30-4:30 in Ms. Negele's room (3312). This is a stress-free group for nice people who want to hang out, chat about books, and get recommendations. Everyone is invited, and we hope to see you on the 24th!
Crochet Club will meet today after school in Mrs Rothfus's room 1517 until 4:30. Hope to see you there!
Monday after school there will be a short meeting for anyone interested in helping behind the scenes or building the set for the fall play Murder on the Orient Express in Dr. Eaton's room 3302.

The boys golf team fell short for the city title. The Senators lost to SHG by 6 shots last night but defeated Lanphier/SE. The Senators were led by Charlie Merritt and Carter Borah with 79s. Connor Borah added an 80 and Jude O'Brien carded a 84. The boys head to Lick Creek Friday for the Pekin Invite.
The Lady Senator golf team played at Bunn National Golf Course last night. SHS lost to SHG but beat Chatham and Lincoln. SHS was led by Meher Garg with a 52, Samantha Cathers shot a 53, Ella Jarmer carded a 59 and Sydney Cathers rounded out the scoring with a 61.
