The Homecoming Dance is this Saturday, October 3rd, at SHS from 7:00 – 9:30 p.m. Doors open at 6:45 p.m. Students will not be admitted after 8:00 p.m. Students will enter through security at the main doors off Lewis Street. Tickets are $15 per person, there will be no pre-sale of tickets. All students will pass through metal detectors and a bag search for entry. If a SHS student is bringing an outside guest, they must arrive/leave and stay with their SHS student at all times.

SHS will administer a mock ACT/pre-ACT test for all students in grades 9, 10, and 11 on Friday, October 9th. Freshmen and Sophomores will complete a practice pre-ACT, and Juniors, a practice ACT. We then use this data to guide instruction before the actual tests in April. Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors who return the parent-signed permission slip will be dismissed immediately after testing that day. All students are welcome to stay and eat lunch and/or stay at SHS that afternoon. Buses will run at the regular Friday 3:17 dismissal time for those who stay; there are no early buses. Seniors who return the parent-signed permission slip will not attend school on the 9th, as they will participate in a college, work, service/volunteer, field trip, homework, or job shadow day. The permission slip is due on Tuesday, October 6th by 3:30.

Any junior or senior who is interested in working at an election site on November 3rd from 6 am to 7 pm, please see Mr. Lightfoot for an application and details. To apply, you must have a 3.0 GPA or higher and parent permission.

The new lockers are coming! If you have a locker on the first floor in the math hallway, it will be replaced this weekend with the permanent locker. The number and combination will be the same. On Friday, you can move your things from your locker to the main office and Guidance office, then pick them up Monday morning. See Leardi or Impson if you need help.
