We hosted several special guests at the Early Learning Center this morning!
Governor JB Pritzker, Lt. Governor Juliana Stratton, Senator Doris Turner, State Rep Sue Scherer, State Senator Cristina H Pacione-Zayas, State Representative Joyce Mason and Jim Langfelder, Mayor met at the Early Learning Center to speak more about the Governor's plan for pre-k education called Smart Start Illinois.
Smart Start Illinois is a four-year plan that will allow access to pre-school for every three and four year old in Illinois. It will increase funding for the Early Childhood Block Grant program this year by $75 million!
Superintendent Jennifer Gill and Pre-K Coordinator Kevi Jackson both emphasized how this money could really boost early childhood education in Springfield District 186 and provide more opportunities for our children.
