crossing guard

If you’ve ever driven down Monroe in the morning, you already know this 186 superstar, Mr. Garrett Williams!

He’s the friendly face in front of Grant Middle School who brightens everyone’s day with a wave, a fist bump, or a big smile. Rain, snow, or sunshine, Mr. Williams guards his corner with pride, helping students cross safely on a busy street while also spreading joy to drivers and neighbors who pass by.

What makes Mr. Williams so special isn’t just the safety he provides, it’s the connection. His simple gestures remind all of us that kindness matters. GMS students get to start their day with a role model who shows that something as small as a wave or a smile can make a big difference. As he likes to say: “It doesn’t cost anything to be kind so why not brighten someone’s day?”

We love featuring Mr. Williams about once every school year because he truly is an asset to our schools and our community. After seeing the community posts giving him his annual shout-out, we knew it was time to keep the accolades going.

So here’s to Mr. Williams, keep waving, keep smiling, and keep inspiring us all to follow your way of life: spread kindness every day.
