The countdown to a new school year is on, and District 186 is excited to welcome students, families, staff, and community members to the 2nd Annual Community Back-to-School Event on Thursday, July 30, 2026.
This free community event is designed to help families prepare for a successful school year while connecting them with valuable resources and organizations from across the Springfield area.
Attendees will have the opportunity to visit with more than 60 community vendors and exhibitors offering resources and support for students, families, and educators. Families can explore a wide variety of community services, educational opportunities, health and wellness resources, and programs designed to help students thrive both in and out of the classroom.
The event will also feature free school supplies and backpacks (while supplies last), food and treats, interactive activities for children, and opportunities to connect with District 186 staff and community partners. From hands-on activities and games to valuable information and resources, there will be something for everyone to enjoy.
The Community Back-to-School Event serves as a one-stop destination for families preparing for the upcoming school year while strengthening connections between schools, families, and the community.
