Owen Marsh Elementary hosted a wonderful and emotional assembly today to recognize a 5th grade student, Raeka, for placing 2nd in the National AMVET Nationalism Art Contest!
The Illinois Amvets presented Principal, Wendy Conaway, with an American flag and an Illinois Flag to display permanently inside the school. The Black Tigers Honor Guard wow'd the students as they presented the colors.
Jim Langfelder, Mayor spoke to the crowd about the importance of honoring our veterans and how special this honor was for Raeka and Marsh Elementary!
There were a lot of watery eyes as the students ended the assembly by singing " Proud To Be An American".
