Lee Families,
We will be in school Thursday, April 9th. CWLP crews worked through the night and early hours to get the water main repaired and water services restored to Lee School. We want to assure you that there was never a boil order or concern with the water quality, but the water had to be turned off in order to fix the problem.
Our district maintenance and custodial teams have been diligently working at Lee School today so that the building is prepped for a smooth return. Once water service was restored, every classroom and restroom was thoroughly inspected, prepared, and readied for students and staff.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigated this situation. We look forward to seeing you at school tomorrow. The buses will run as normal tomorrow and SCOPE will resume its normal hours of operation.

Good morning,
I would like to provide an update to Lee families about a water main break on 11th Street of which CWLP made us aware this morning. At this time, this water issue is not affecting Lee Elementary School. Water within the building today, April 7, 2026 is safe and not diminished in any manner. Out of an abundance of caution, we are bringing in water fountains and washing stations in case further concerns develop throughout the day. In order to fix the issue, CWLP will turn off all water beginning at 3:30 pm today, and Lee School will close after school for the rest of the evening while they repair the problem on 11th Street.
We are planning to return fully operational for a full school day tomorrow, April 8th. Be mindful to check for any Rooms messages, District emails, or social media posts in case anything changes.
SCOPE at Lee will be open this evening; however, we will bus the Lee SCOPE students to Laketown Elementary School, which is located at 1825 Lee St, Springfield, IL. (217) 585-5819. Ms. Jackson, Project SCOPE Coordinator, is reaching out to all Lee SCOPE families with further communication and information.

WHAT A GREAT WEEK! From successful first days of state testing, 90% average student attendance, and ending the week with a staff vs. student basketball game, so many great things happened at Lee! Testing will continue next week as well, so please continue making sure your student gets enough sleep, a good breakfast, and arrives to school on time! Have a great weekend, and see everyone on Monday!

Lee Families,
Around 12:45 p.m., our Centegix badge system was activated, triggering a hard lockdown at Lee School for a short time. We want to assure you that the Lee administration immediately responded to the classroom and verified everyoneโs safety. The staff and students were notified via intercom that there was an all clear.
Within two minutes, our administration was able to call 911 and notify law enforcement to inform them that there was no incident that required their assistance.
We appreciate your understanding and support as we continue to prioritize the safety of our students and staff. We are proud that our district has multiple layers of safety protocols in place.
Respectfully,
Mrs. Rudd

IAR TESTING BEGINS TOMORROW!
Our 3rd-5th grade students will be taking their IAR and ISA state tests beginning this week and into next week.
Please help your child in making sure they are prepared for the tests. Students should get a good night's sleep, eat a healthy breakfast, and arrive to school on time! Students who arrive after the test has begun will remain in the office until testing is completed for that day.
Also, if possible for your family, please have students leave phones at home as they are not permitted in the testing areas for any reason.
Most importantly, remind your child that they are awesome and are going to rock these tests! ๐ค๐ช

Haven't completed the 5 Essentials Survey yet? Here is why our 5 Essentials Survey is so important! It gives you as the family a voice in how you think your students' school is doing. All 186 schools have a goal of 20% of families taking the survey. You can see below that we are making progress but have not reached out goal just yet. We need your help in spreading the word about taking our 5 Essentials Survey. Don't forget that every family who takes the survey gets their child a free popcorn or treat from Mrs Wilson! As always, please reach out to Mrs. Wilson or anyone in the main office with any questions. Thank you for helping us continuously improve!

We are close to meeting are response goal! If you have not had the chance to provide your feedback on the 5Essentials Survey, follow the QR code to do so. Once you have completed it, send jwilson1@sps186.org an email and your child will receive a bag of popcorn! Your feedback helps us to continue to improve!

Families just a reminder that we have NO school on Monday, February 16th in observance of President's Day. Have a happy and safe 3- day weekend!
