The Keep Kids in School Coalition will be offering physicals and immunizations for District 186 students on Wednesday, August 7th at the Sangamon County Department of Public Health. Sign-in hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
No appointment needed.
The clinic will only serve District 186 students who are entering Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten, 6th and 9th grade and those who are new to Illinois who must provide a current physical exam and immunization record. All 12th grade students must provide proof of having received a dose of the meningococcal vaccine on or after their 16th birthday. The legal parent or guardian must accompany their child.
No sports physicals will be offered. Thank you!
In person registration will be Monday, August 5 from 11 am-6 pm and Tuesday, August 6 from 8am -2 pm at Grant Middle School (1800 W. Monroe). Parking is available in the front of the school and in the parking lot across from County Market. Please remember that ALL students must register each year. Please bring a utility bill with the registrants name and address within the last 30 days to help expedite this registration process (new and returning students). Staff will be on had to assist- we look forward to seeing new families and welcoming back returning ones!
If you will be unable to attend one of these dates, please reach out to Mrs. Castro (castrot@sps186.org), Grant's Family and Community Engagement Liaison, to set up a time that may work better for you.
The Public Health Department will be holding clinics on the following dates to aid in back to school physicals. All 6th graders must have an up to date physical on file at the school no later than October 1. Athlete physicals are good for 13 months.

Tuesday, September 11 (APPT ONLY) from 8am-12 noon.
Saturday, September 14 (APPT ONLY) from 8am -12 noon.
The state fair fundraiser meeting tonight will now be held in the library from 6 to 7 please use the main GMS entrance!
OPEN Cross Country workouts will start next on Monday/Wed/Friday at 8:00 to 10:00AM. Meet Coach Lee in the 1900 Parking Lot. Bring water!

Just a reminder tomorrow we will have our parent meeting for the Illinois State Fair fundraiser to raise money for the girls Poms, girls basketball, boys basketball and track teams. This meeting will be in the GMS gym from 6 to 7PM. This meeting is for parents who have a student currently involved in these sports, are interested in participating in these sports this year, or just anyone connected to GMS wanting to help support the GMS athletic programs listed! We hope to see you tomorrow!

The first day of school August 19 is quickly approaching. Please don't forget that ALL students need to register - even returning students- online via the district website. We ask that each family provide updated residency information each year (valid within the last 30 days). Also, please remember that incoming sixth graders will need to have an updated physical completed as well. In person registration dates will be Monday, August 5 from 11 to 6 and Tuesday, August 6 from 8 to 2 right here at Grant Middle School. We are looking forward to seeing everyone and hope you are enjoying your summer break!
