LHS will be selling historic Gardner Gym bricks on Saturday, September 10th from 11 am - 2 pm. Only 500 bricks will be sold. Cost is $15.00 a brick, only cash is accepted.

The Keep Kids in School Coalition will be offering FREE physicals and immunizations for District 186 students Saturday, August 27th at Springfield Clinic Wabash- 2200 Wabash Ave. from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m..
No insurance required. Must be an enrolled District 186 student to participate.
Standard school vaccines only available while supplies last.No appointment needed.
The clinic will only serve District 186 students who are entering Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten, 6th and 9th grade and those who are new to Illinois must provide a current physical exam and immunization record. All 12th grade students must provide proof of having received a dose of the meningococcal vaccine on or after their 16th birthday. The legal parent or guardian must accompany their child.
No sports physicals will be offered.

Braided Behavior Support System and new teacher training was hosted this week by Westside Christian Church. Over 150 District 186 staff attended and participated in training over the last few days.


4th ANNUAL MAX-OUT BACK TO SCHOOL GIVEAWAY, August 16th from 5pm-8pm, Comer Cox Park
In addition to supplying backpacks with all the needed school supplies, we will also have music, basketball, a bouncy house and more! To cap the event we will be bringing Fitness to the Park from 7pm-8pm. All activities are FREE!

Our community rocks! Walmart #3210 on North Dirksen Parkway made a generous donation! Black Hawk, Feitshans, Enos & Harvard Park all received checks for $500 dollars for back-to-school needs! Also, each of the 4 schools were asked to bring 8 students to fill their carts with back-to-school supplies!

All students entering a pre-k program, kindergarten, 6th grade, 9th grade and those new to Springfield Public Schools must provide proof of a physical exam completed by a physician, nurse practitioner or physician's assistant by the first day of school. An updated immunization record is also required.


Gardens grow the spirit! The garden at Butler Elementary is flourishing! The garden is maintained by wonderful garden volunteers and various local organizations help to contribute to keeping the Butler community garden growing! Earlier today they were handing out kale, greens, tomatoes, zucchini and herbs.



Freshman Forward is an event hosted by Lanphier, Springfield & Southeast high schools. It is an opportunity for incoming freshman to meet other freshman, upperclassmen, teachers and administration.
